Think Woodstock, Isle of White, upside down guitars and great Strat sounds - this is my take on a late 60s Strat tone. I voiced this a little brighter, with a punchy attack and glassy top end that cuts through without sounding piercing.
Wound with plain enamel wire around alnico V magnets, not degaussed* so they sound as good as the old ones did back then. The different wire and full power magnet make for a louder pickup that still has authentic vintage style tone but the increased high end make it a good choice for more modern sounds too.
If you need a versatile Strat that will handle anything, this is your set.
*old magnets loose their strength and the tone changes, these sound like they would have new.
What it works well with
Good choice for an Irish or Texas blues tone if you use heavy strings and play aggressively. The brighter tone will work really in alder guitars with rosewood fingerboards as you'll get a nice clarity to your Strat. In an ash Strat the bass and treble will increase, giving you that typical glassy Strat sound that works great with overdrive and effects. Works well with either Vintage PAFs, Hot PAFs, Fat PAFs or the Extremist humbuckers for a great HSH or HSS combo.
