Early Gibson humbuckers varied a lot in tone and output, so the Cool PAF is my take on a lower output PAF style humbucker. The overall tone balance of the Cool PAF set is warm mids, rounded lows with detailed open treble.
The bridge delivers an airy crisp treble with a rich mid-range, perfect for crunchy chords or liquid blues overdrive. The neck has a smooth detailed treble, full mid-range and warm bass, it can handle anything from clean Jazz through to rock, pretty much Wes to Slash! The neck and bridge tone and volume levels are tweaked to work well together as a set.
If you can control the lively response of an un-potted Cool PAF you’ll be rewarded with even more authentic vintage tone. Notes bloom into controllable feedback with ease and the guitar feels more alive with complex harmonic overtones.
