Hybrid 3-4
I wanted to create a slightly different take on the Strat sound. The typical 50s Stratocaster has a sweet high end that's makes the top strings sound smooth but never harsh, but looses a little definition on the bass strings. I've taken this tone using alnico III on the plain strings but alnico IV on the bass strings - giving the perfect balance of chime and twang, warmth and clarity from high E to low E.
What it works well with
The unique blend of warm chime on the top strings and bright twang on the low strings brings out a new voice in any Strat. As usually expect more high and low end from an Ash Strat, especially of you've got a maple neck. Alder and rosewood will shift the emphasis to the midrange. Works well with either Vintage PAF, Hot PAF, or Fat PAF humbuckers for a great HSH or HSS combo.
